If you have filled one out, you should have either received an email or a paper slip in your mailbox.
If you have not, email Courtney at cebrewst@syr.edu
If you have not filled one out at this point, you're way past the deadline, so please don't hold your breath on being approved.
For those not approved to stay late, you still need to be out 24 hours after your last final, on May 7 at the very latest.
Keep us posted with questions. Thanks for a great year!

Party on the Porch
Important Closing Details
Please take a few minutes to carefully read the following details:
1. 24 hour quiet hours being Tues April 28 at 8 PM. If you disrupt, you will be written up.
2. You must be out by 24 hours after your last exam, the last exam happening on May 6. This means that unless you have approval to stay, you need to be gone by May 7. Those not approved to stay will be escorted out of the building if necessary.
3. If you need to stay past 24 hours of your last exam, you will need to seek approval from the RD and ARD. You can either get the form you were emailed or go to the post below to download the form. Note that the deadline is today April 29, so you better get it in quick if already have not.
4. Before you check out, you need to have all of your items out of your room. Be extremely careful to not leave anything behind and make sure to clean your room as if you leave items behind or leave your room dirty, you could be charged.
5. For confiscated items that you would like back, you need to email Bill to get approval to get it back. Once you receive that approval, then you need to print out that email and bring it as well as your copy of the confiscation slip to the Main Desk. If you lost your slip, please include that in your email to Bill. Bill’s email is wmwalsh@syr.edu
6. To check out:
A. You need to make sure everything is out of your room
B. You need to make sure that your room is clean
C. You need to make sure that you're ready to surrender your key and SUID dot
D. Fill out the checkout envelope that was put in your mailbox (if you need a new one, email the ARD Courtney ASAP at cebrewst@syr.edu ), put your key inside it and your SUID dot on the outside and give it to the person working the front desk (if no one is there, simply put it in your mailbox). Take great care to check out properly as cutting corners may result in you being charged.
7. Remember to still follow all University rules, as nothing changes during move-out (i.e. emergency exits are still emergency exits).

Valentine's Mocktail Party...This Tuesday!
Making Coffee Legally
For many students, the sadness of not being able to bring a regular drip coffee pot into their residence hall room is almost too much to bear. Some would rather risk it then live without their coffee.
Fortunately there are plenty of ways to have your coffee without using an illegal appliance.
Here's two ways to make coffee using only a microwave and two simple coffee brewers:
1. French Press:
Simply go out and buy one from a local coffeehouse (Cafe Kubal on James St sells them frequently) or buy one online (Bodum makes great ones). The instructions simply involve heating the water for 4 minutes on HIGH in a microwave-safe container, combining it with ground coffee (make sure to freshly grind for best results) for at least 4 minutes, and shazam, you have great coffee.
Note that french press differs from regular drip, as the grinds have consistent contact with the grinds and hence, the coffee has natural oils that enhance the taste.
2. Pour Over Cone
It's basically taking the operation out of your typical coffee brewer. You simply purchase a cone (like the ones shown here) and some filters to fit it. The directions are as above in heating the water, add the desired ground coffee into the filtered cone (just buy a grinder if you don't have one), and then simply pour the heated water through the coffee into the a container/cup below it.
This is most similar to coffee pot coffee if you don't like the oils from the french press.
Thus my friends, there's many ways to have your coffee and not fear being found out for illegal action.

Do you like reading? Do you like performing? Do you like working with children (even a little)?
Then we have a great opportunity for you!
Partnering with Delaware Academy Elementary School, we're looking to get a group of students together to go to Delaware on Friday, February 27 (tentative date) to engage the students in dramatizations of their favorite stories. No formal reading or acting experience is needed, just an open mind and a couple free hours.
Please email Bill at wmwalsh@syr.edu if you are interested!

Do you have your dot for your ID?!
If you have not picked up your security dot (the diamond sticker with a big "09" in the middle that sticks to the front of your SUID), you need to do so ASAP.
Please stop by Bill or Courtney's office in Haven Hall to pick one up. Their office hours are between 10 AM - 5 PM, Monday - Friday (though quite often they may step out).
For simplest and easiest result, your best bet is to email one of them ( wmwalsh@syr.edu or cebrewst@syr.edu ) to make sure they will be there when you stop by.
